Cincinnati, OH


For the final location I want to feature on this blog, I had to include my hometown of Cincinnati! I will be the first to admit I do not have an immense amount of hometown pride. I came all the way down to Georgia for school and am not planning on moving back to Cincinnati in the near future, but it truly is a very cool and growing city. In fact, it was featured earlier this month on a list of the 7 Most Hipster cities that also featured Athens, GA! Never thought I’d see Cincinnati and Athens on the same list, but it just goes to show the progress Cincinnati has made and how it is becoming a cooler place for young people to live.



The main area I wanted to focus on is called Over the Rhine. Just 10 years ago, this neighborhood was ranked the worst in the country for violence. Now, it has completely changed into the trendiest area of the city complete with bars with swings for seats, breweries, juiceries, and the hippest brunch spots. Unfortunately, this transition has happened mostly in the last few years since I’ve left for college. But, now every time I return home for a break I have all these exciting new places to try!

I may not have the urge to move back to Cincinnati in the next couple of years, but I think that it will start becoming a more popular destination for recent college graduates in the Midwest and I am proud to call it my hometown!

Amalfi Coast: Nerano

The beautiful Amalfi Coast is no secret destination and if you have the time to visit Italy and spend some time in this area, you absolutely must! But, if you’re on a budget like I was, staying in Positano isn’t exactly easy to do. Positano is extremely beautiful and is undoubtedly the most recognizable spot on the Amalfi Coast. There are many shops, restaurants, hotels and people constantly running through this town built meticulously down a mountain. But, this is certainly not the only beautiful destination on the Coast. When I traveled to the Amalfi Coast, I booked an Airbnb in the quaint, insanely picturesque town of Nerano. This town has way less activity than Positano, but the quietness and beauty make this escape uncomparable—and more affordable. Zurich, Switzerland: Thermalbad & Spa

Switzerland is a country I had heard amazing things about… great chocolate, heaquarters of FIFA, the Alps and stunning views. However, it wasn’t until I met one of my good friends at University of Georgia who is from Zurich that I decided it was a must see destination. Since a few of my other friends were studying abroad in Europe last semester as well, my friend from Switzerland and a couple others who were in Athens still for the semester decided to plan a trip. Over spring break, the people not studying abroad made the long trek overseas and all of us already in Europe booked trips to Zurich.
