Paris, France: Eiffel Tower

I’ll be the first to admit… this is not a very creative suggestion when considering what sites you must see in the world. But, after having spent my 21 st birthday camped out next to the Eiffel Tower with a bottle of wine and few of my best friends, I have to share some tips on how to maximze your experience here.   First of all, if you decide to go to Paris in the winter like I did, DRESS WARM! Nothing is more frustrating than being in an incredible place but not being able to enjoy it because you’re freezing cold. But, I am also aware that taking pictures in front of a site like this is a necessity so dressing cute is also a priority. To that I have two statements: wear thick wool socks & do not be afraid of layers! I was wearing a long sleeve thermal shirt, a normal long sleeve shirt, and a thick leather jacket with a huge scarf, which just barely made me comfortable. Another tip: comfy shoes! Europe is known for its walkable cities and you really will be walking...

Barcelona, Spain: Bunkers del Carmel

Ingredients for a perfect evening: cold bottle of cava, freshly baked bread, deliciously soft brie, a setting sun and unbelievable 360 degree views of Barcelona from one of the city’s highest spots. After studying abroad in Barcelona for a semester, I quickly discovered that not only are the Bunkers my favorite spot in the city, but easily my favorite in the entire world. You won’t be able to find this destination in any of the guidebooks, as it is not a formal “site” like La Sagrada Familia or La Boqueria. The way you hear about this location is from locals you meet around the town or others who have ventured up before you-- and I do not use the word “venture” lightly... As you can expect to some of the most spectacular views of this famous city, there is inevitably a trek to get there. The Metro and even cabs can only take you so far. Once you climb to the top of the sidewalk, there are steps sneakily placed on the side of a steep lawn. From there, you can follow the path created...
