Restaurant Special! Surf House: Barcelona, Spain

Even though this blog is mainly about sites and not so much about food, I felt it was important to do a post dedicated to one of my favorite restaurants in Barcelona for when I was feeling a little homesick. Though I do love Spanish tapas and traditional Catalan food, occasionally I needed some American cuisine and Surf House was the place to go. This restaurant was opened by a Californian-turned-Spaniard and he has created a menu and an atmosphere I have never experienced before, even in the States. In fact, in the current social media state, it is very common to Instagram your food before you eat it. It is as if this restaurant plans for that and arranges its food perfectly. This leads to better recognition and more customers who are dying to try the immaculate food they see on their feeds.

Located in the Barceloneta area of the city, situated right on the ocean, the seating is solely outside and only open in the warmer months. You get a constant breeze from the water and the boardwalk vibes are unlike anywhere else in the city. This restaurant is popular for everyone—not just tourists. The locals enjoy the Californian vibes and are just as prevalant as Americans searching for a taste of home.

The menu includes things like tacos, acai bowls, loaded nachos to octopus ceviche. There is definitely something for everyone—whether you are a picky eater or willing to try anything. The food is always immacuately displayed and the taste matches its appearance. If you ever make a trip to Barcelona between the months of March to October, I strongly recommend you make a trip to Surf House! One tip—if you want the brunch, show up 15 minutes before the restaurant opens. There are limited tables and people line up quickly for a spot at this coveted place. Enjoy!
